Job summary

DC Goodwill Alexandria is hiring for a Retail Sales Associate to provide friendly and professional service, ring sales accurately, and manage cash with care. You will help customers, keep merchandise neatly displayed, and maintain a clean store environment. Strong communication and basic math skills are essential for daily interactions.

The role requires standing for long periods and the ability to lift items up to 40 pounds as needed in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.2. Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner3. Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register4. Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator 5. Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer’s questions courteously and promptly6. Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections. 7. Maintains clean professional appearance

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain an orderly and clean register area 3. Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary4. Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include: store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms) 5. Perform other duties as assigned by management

Preferred Qualifications

1. A minimum of six months of previous work experience2. High School Diploma or equivalent3. Previous experience working in a retail environment4. Excellent customer service related skills 5. Working knowledge of a cash register6. Multilingual with complete fluency in English
