Job summary

Olson Oil Co. is seeking a Sales Associate to deliver friendly service, assist customers, and process transactions in a fast-paced convenience setting. You will contribute to a clean store, stock shelves, and maintain safety standards while delivering a positive guest experience.

The role requires reliability, ability to multitask, and availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prior retail experience is a plus, but not required, and English communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, vendors, and management; read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations, make correct change, and complete shift reports.
• Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
• Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, squat, reach, and perform overhead reaching as needed.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8-10 hours) on concrete or tile surfaces.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as scheduled.
• Ability to work in freezers and coolers (approximately 10°F) for up to 30 minutes.
• Exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.

• Provide friendly, outgoing, and professional customer service, including assisting customers and resolving concerns.
• Remain productive and engaged in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to multitask efficiently.
• Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Accurately process customer transactions and participate in suggestive selling.
• Follow cash control procedures, including cash drops; safeguard company funds; complete shift reports accurately.
• Maintain store cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, picking up litter, and cleaning and sanitizing restrooms.
• Stock shelves, coolers, and displays both inside and outside the store.
• Follow food preparation and sanitation guidelines; operate food service equipment; monitor safe food temperatures and record waste as required.
• Adhere to all safety procedures, including fuel dispensing safety standards.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, vendors, and management; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

• Ability to carry trash containers and lift contents into exterior bins; occasional use of step ladders.
• Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, squat, reach, and perform overhead reaching as needed.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours) on concrete or tile surfaces.
• Ability to sweep, mop, and maintain interior and exterior store areas and equipment, including snow removal.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as scheduled.
• Ability to work in freezers and coolers (approximately 10°F) for up to 30 minutes at a time.
• Ability to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
