Penguin Random House is looking for an analytically minded Assistant or Associate to join the Online and Digital Sales team. This position reports to the Sales Director, supporting the sales managers responsible for selling Random House Adult titles to multiple online accounts including Amazon, Apple, Audible, and Kobo.
The Assistant/Associate will distribute sales reports corporately, track/analyze data, help the team prepare for various meetings, and act as a liaison between the sales managers, sales directors, and the publishers. They will be tasked with reading frontlist titles, asked to share their opinions on them, and sit in on both divisional book launch, strategy, and marketing meetings across many pre-eminent publishing divisions. A creative and strategic marketing insticnt will be important when managing backlist merchandising packages across all book categories at Amazon.com.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Managing orders, sales reports, inventory, marketing content, and ancillary issues for Spanish Language titles at Amazon.com.
- Orchestrate merchandising, sales reports, initial buys, reorders, and monthly meetings with Zeitgeist publisher for front-list and backlist titles at Amazon.com.
- Working and collaborating cross-departmentally with both Metadata and Amazon Marketing Services team members.
- Compiling data from a variety of internal databases and runningad hoc reports.
- Communicating with adult publishing divisions (RH, Crown, Knopf, Doubleday) to obtain sales materials.
- Managing and executing monthly backlist merchandising reports across all PRH divisions.
- Assisting in the preparation for account appointments (i.e. gathering and preparing materials, creating PowerPoint presentations) and participating in account facing title presentations themselves.
- Providing general administrative support for the department, including establishing staff meeting agendas, account manager calendar deadlines, and providing coverage when Sales Managers are out of the office.

- Minimum of one year of sales experience to be considered at the Associate level
- Interest in book publishing and sales
- High proficiency with Excel (vlookups, pivot tables)
- Ability to successfully prioritize and work on multiple projects at a time
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to work comfortably with numbers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, inclination for public speaking a plus
- A strong ability to communicate in writing with confidence on both sales analysis and editorially nuanced reports
- Proven ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Proactive with strong organizational and follow up skills
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Prior experience in retail, bookselling, and/or office environments is a plus
This NYC-based role is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities for a minimum of two days a week in the office. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
The salary for the Assistant position is $51,000 and $56,000 at the Associate level. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
