Job description

Job Title: Sales and Merchandising Manager

Ministry /Department: Hope’s Closet

Reports to: General Manager

Status: Full-time/ Seasonal (Minimum of Six Months)

Supervisory Role: Serve staff

Objective

To implement sales and merchandising programs for Hope’s Closet Thrift, both short and long term, while aligning with The Church of Eleven22's vision of being a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ. This position is a seasonal full-time exempt role reporting to the Hope’s Closet General Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Minister of the Gospel and Hope’s Closet Ambassador
  • Develop and implement visual merchandising strategies for Hope’s Closet
  • Ensure store standards are maintained to provide a dignified retail environment for customers
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships, and acquire new vendors
  • Maintain accurate inventory management records
  • Manage inventory budget and buying plans
  • Oversee new product receiving and processing
  • Lead the development and project management of sales and ministry events
  • Collaborate with the Communication Project Manager on promotional and sales activities
  • Support content development for Hope’s Closet’s mission and promotional sales via marketing platforms, working with the Communication Project Manager
  • Assist in creating content for social media platforms
  • Educate store staff on product knowledge, displays, and sales strategies
  • Support the development, discipling, and leadership of merchandising staff to execute displays effectively
  • Assist in store operations during vacations and staffing needs
  • Model The Church of Eleven22 & Hope’s Closet mission, vision, and core values
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Demonstrate ability to make disciples who make disciples
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Be self-motivated with excellent time and project management skills
  • Generate sales revenue

Education and Experience
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience managing multiple employees, volunteers, or projects
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the General Manager. Hours may vary weekly based on store needs, including weekends for scheduled events. The store closes during major church events to allow staff participation in spiritual formation.

Our team is committed to furthering the mission of The Church of Eleven22 and Hope’s Closet through various big events throughout the year, encouraging staff participation and service.

This role operates in a professional retail environment, involving both sales floor and warehouse/stockroom activities, using fixtures and equipment such as dollies, racks, carts, ladders, cash registers, and computers.

Physical Demands

Must be able to:

  • Stand or walk on concrete floors for extended periods
  • Bend, lift, grasp, reach, push, and pull materials
  • Walk on uneven surfaces, ladders, and stairs
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
