Job description

Mcpherson, United States | Posted on 08/31/2026

Exapta Solutions was founded in 1998 to bring better tools and techniques to no-till farming. Our team combines farmer insight, agronomic principles, and engineering precision to solve field problems that other manufacturers often overlook.

This is an opportunity to shape a growing sales function without losing direct contact with farmers, dealers, and the equipment itself. You will earn commission on your sales while building the clarity, discipline, and coaching that help the whole team perform.

The Opportunity

The Sales and Agronomy Manager is a true player coach. Approximately half of your time will be devoted to personal selling, strategic accounts, field activity, and closing business. The other half will be devoted to leading the sales team, establishing expectations, improving the sales process, and building reliable pipeline visibility.

This role needs a practical leader who can move comfortably from a customer conversation about planter or drill performance to a coaching conversation about prospecting, follow up, CRM discipline, and forecast accuracy. Travel is seasonal, with heavier field time during planting and industry events.

Personal Selling and Market Development
  • Own an individual sales pipeline and close business with farmers, growers, dealers, distributors, manufacturers, and industry partners
  • Develop key accounts and strategic relationships through prospecting, company provided leads, referrals, trade shows, inspections, demonstrations, and field events.
  • Conduct customer visits and technical conversations that connect equipment needs with clear, credible Exapta recommendations.
  • Model strong discovery, follow up, negotiation, and closing practices for the sales team.
Sales Leadership and Team Development
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and retain Territory Sales Representatives as the sales team grows.
  • Set clear role expectations, activity standards, account ownership rules, and performance review rhythms.
  • Lead regular pipeline reviews, individual coaching sessions, field ride along’s, and skill development.
  • Create direct, fair accountability and help each representative build a territory plan that balances new accounts, dealer relationships, and customer retention.
Sales Operations and Forecasting
  • Build and document a consistent sales process from lead qualification through close and customer handoff.
  • Lead CRM implementation or improvement, establish data standards, and ensure the team maintains accurate records.
  • Own sales forecasts, pipeline reporting, territory performance reviews, and leadership updates.
  • Design territory assignments across the United States as business needs and hiring plans become clear.
  • Partner across operations, finance, product, service, and leadership to align customer commitments with capacity and turn market feedback into action.
What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months
  • You personally generate revenue and maintain a healthy pipeline while meeting the approved individual sales targets.
  • The team follows a documented sales process and uses the CRM consistently.
  • Leadership receives clear forecasts and can see opportunities, risks, account ownership, and next actions.
  • Territories are structured thoughtfully and representatives understand where and how to focus.
  • New representatives are recruited, onboarded, and coached against clear expectations as hiring progresses.
  • Revenue, new account, retention, conversion, pipeline, and activity targets are measured once the final scorecard is approved.
Requirements
  • Agricultural experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow revenue and develop customer relationships in an agricultural market.
  • Experience coaching, leading, or developing salespeople, whether through formal management or significant team leadership.
  • Mechanical aptitude to lead credible technical conversations.
  • Ability to build a repeatable sales process, strengthen CRM adoption, and turn pipeline data into action.
  • Strong judgment, communication, listening, presentation, and accountability skills, with comfort balancing independent selling and team leadership.
  • A valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to travel seasonally, including overnight travel.
  • Ability to work onsite in McPherson, Kansas.
  • Base salary: $80,000 based on experience.
  • Uncapped commission: eligible individual sales under the approved commission plan.
  • Quarterly Performance Bonus
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance, based on the final company policy.
  • Mileage and approved travel expense reimbursement.
  • Company provided phone, laptop, and field equipment.
  • Retirement benefit information: Sponsored by Company
  • Paid time off
