We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Agronomist to join our team in Minnesota. This role will be responsible for promoting and selling our biological products and specialty fertilizers to row crop farmers, agribusinesses, and distributors while providing expert agronomic advice. As a key member of the sales team, you will combine technical knowledge with customer relationship building to drive growth in your territory. You will work closely with farmers, agricultural advisors, and internal teams to understand customer needs, develop tailored solutions, and provide exceptional service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development:
- Identify, develop, and close new sales opportunities within the row crop and specialty fertilizer sector.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, including farmers, agribusinesses, and agricultural service providers.
- Promote and sell biological products and specialty fertilizers by providing product knowledge and tailored recommendations for customers' specific needs.
- Achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth within the assigned region.
Agronomic Expertise:
- Provide agronomic support to customers, including advice on product applications, crop management, and sustainable farming practices.
- Conduct field visits to assess customer needs and offer solutions to improve crop performance and soil health.
- Work with customers to implement best practices for biological products and specialty fertilizers and provide ongoing technical support.
Market Analysis & Strategy:
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify new opportunities and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network and promote company products.
- Collaborate with the marketing and product development teams to ensure alignment with customer needs and market demands.
Travel & Territory Management:
- Travel within the assigned Minnesota region to meet with customers, attend events, and support on-the-ground initiatives.
- Effectively manage a portfolio of customers and territory to maximize sales potential.
Sales Prospecting and Outreach:
- Identify and reach out to potential clients within the agricultural sector.
- Conduct sales calls, emails, and presentations to introduce Agri-Sciences Biologicals offerings.
- Leverage social media and networking events to expand your sales network.
Client Engagement and Support:
- Assist clients in understanding the benefits of Agri-Sciences Biologicals products and specialty fertilizers.
- Address client inquiries and provide basic technical assistance.
- Follow up with clients to ensure their needs are met and maintain client satisfaction.
- Design and run marketing trials.
Sales Goals Achievement:
- Work toward meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Collaborate with senior sales team members for mentorship and guidance.
- Develop and implement creative sales strategies to capture new market segments.
Product Knowledge:
- Learn about Agri-Sciences Biologicals product portfolio, including specialty fertilizers, features, and benefits.
- Effectively communicate product information to potential clients.
- Stay updated on product improvements and enhancements.
Market Research:
- Stay informed about industry trends and competitive products.
- Provide feedback on market dynamics to help shape sales strategies.
- Identify emerging opportunities and threats in the agricultural market.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities and client interactions.
- Prepare regular reports on sales progress and challenges.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Plant Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in agricultural sales, agronomy, or related field, preferably in biological products, specialty fertilizers, or sustainable agriculture.
- Strong understanding of row crop production, soil health, specialty fertilizers, and biological products.
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships and achieve sales goals.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel (up to 25-50%) within the Minnesota.
