Join to apply for the Sales Account Manager (San Francisco-Based) role at Axion BioSystems. Axion BioSystems, an innovative and rapidly growing life sciences company, develops high-throughput microelectrode array (MEA) and Impedance assay platforms used for in-vitro investigation of electrically active cell networks. Our Maestro MEA and Impedance platforms model human heartbeats, brain activity, cancer drug and vaccine effectiveness in a microplate.
Axion’s platform is the advanced MEA system on the market, with expansion into imaging. We are seeking an energetic person comfortable selling a technical, assay-based scientific product to scientists, and adaptable to a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Sell Axion’s product portfolio in the Northwest Region based out of the San Francisco area
- Develop and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers within the assigned territory to reach revenue targets; responsible for all pre-sales activities including prospecting, presentations, and system demos
- Work closely with field applications scientists to manage installations, trainings, and general post-sales support
- Responsible for price negotiations and quoting for systems and consumables
- Maintain customer information and pipeline in Salesforce.com
- Develop and maintain deep product knowledge
- Maintain knowledge of competitive products and technologies
- Provide feedback to sales management regarding market dynamics, product performance, competition, and market potential
Skills and Qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD in cell biology, molecular biology or a related science
- 5 years selling in the life science industry, capital equipment preferred
- Ability to work independently from a home-based office
- Ability to travel 50% within the assigned territory
- Attend national trade shows when needed
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Strong work ethic and desire to succeed
- Self-starter that exhibits strong creativity and resourcefulness
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Efficiently works under pressures and within deadlines
- Works well in a team environment
- Self-confident and outgoing personality
- Proven ability to succeed with a technical sale

- Pharma/Biotech accounts - Basic research, Tox, Safety, Core & HTS labs
- Academic accounts - all life science research, disease areas, Core & HTS labs
Travel
Ability to travel 50% within the assigned territory
Salary and Benefits
Salary: $120,000-$140,000 base salary depending on experience
