The Sales Account Manager (SAM) is a field-based role responsible for enrolling Medicare beneficiaries in skilled nursing facilities into the UnitedHealthcare Institutional Special Needs Plan (ISNP).


If located in Rhode Island, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on challenging tasks.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Utilize the national sales model to generate leads and enroll beneficiaries into the UnitedHealthcare Nursing Home plan
  • Develop and manage account-specific strategies to educate and engage facility personnel, resulting in interested residents and/or families (responsible parties)
  • Use traditional sales strategies to uncover needs and introduce plan features and benefits
  • Achieve enrollment targets for the territory
  • Document all activity to ensure compliance with Medicare Marketing Guidelines

Required Qualifications:


  • State health insurance licensure within 90 days of hire or the ability to obtain it
  • Ability to maintain licensure and product certification according to policies
  • Experience meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Sales experience in B2C or B2B settings or work in a skilled nursing facility
  • Account management skills, including planning, documentation, and measurement
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license or arrange transportation for fieldwork
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Willingness or ability to travel 90% within the local territory

Preferred Qualifications:


  • B2B and B2C sales experience
  • Experience with CRM systems or technical skills

The salary range is $50,000 to $115,000 annually, based on full-time employment, with potential bonuses based on sales performance. Compensation factors include local labor markets, education, experience, and certifications. UnitedHealth Group complies with all applicable minimum wage laws. Benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive programs, stock purchase options, and 401(k) contributions, subject to eligibility.
