Recruiter - Chemical Industry Commercial, Technical and Engineering positions

Our client is a leading manufacturer of a unique class of bio-based chemicals used in a wide variety of applications including food, pharmaceuticals and multiple industrial applications. They are in need of an experienced chemical industry sales professional to serve as a Sales/Account Manager focusing on customers in industrial market segments (rubber, mining, oil field, dust control). This is a home office based position, located ideally in the eastern half of the United States and requiring approximately 50% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage existing book of business will driving new business opportunities across the industrial market segments.
  • Increase sales revenue for existing bio-based chemical products while applying business development tactics to promote new products and identify potential new applications.
  • Negotiate customer pricing, sales terms and supply contracts.
  • Provide technical expertise to customers to address product performance, functionality and compatibility questions.
  • Further develop relationships with existing customers to ensure loyalty and organically grow revenues.
  • Build network of contacts within relevant industry organizations focusing on potential customers and stakeholders. Attend suitable trade shows and conferences.
  • Collaborate effective across internal groups including technical, commercial, supply chain and customer service.
  • Travel to visit customers and attend sales meetings, industry conferences and trade shows approximately 50% of time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related STEM field.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated success in B2B industrial chemicals sales.
  • Prior experience in oleochemicals is very desirable.
  • Working knowledge of rubber, mining, oil field, or dust control applications is useful.
  • Strong technical aptitude to learn and communicate bio-based chemical product features and value.
  • Well developed commercial acumen and business development skills.
  • Strong oral and written communications with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences when called for.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote home office.
  • Ability to travel as required, as much as 50% of time.
