The Buehler’s Catering Manager is responsible for the successful operation of the catering department. Their role is to ensure the department's success by providing exceptional experiences to our customers each time they choose to cater with us. This position works closely with the food service team, Store Leadership, and the Director of Catering. Our goal is to become the Best in Food Service, starting with one great customer experience at a time.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Achieve top-line catering sales and maintain the profitability of the catering department.
  • Lead the catering team and champion “Putting People First” Employee Relations by establishing, developing, training, and maintaining exceptional customer service among all catering employees.
Specific job functions include...
  • Collaborate with the Catering Director, Food Service Manager, and the broader Food Service Team to develop and deliver offerings that impress our customers.
  • Align staffing with recruitment and retention strategies to meet operational needs while optimizing labor costs based on forecasts or budgets.
  • Promote our catering offerings through various marketing and sales techniques in partnership with the Catering Director.
  • Advocate for our customers by ensuring their events are memorable and exceed expectations.
  • Conduct face-to-face sales calls, client meetings, tastings, and demonstrations; prepare and present detailed quotations.
  • Organize custom orders and full-service events through effective communication, record-keeping, checklists, and follow-up.
  • Coordinate with local rental companies, entertainment services, photographers, and event venues.
  • Assist with food preparation for catered events and during peak periods as needed.
  • Upsell with Buehler’s Floral, Bakery, and Beer and Wine Departments to enhance store sales and provide a comprehensive event shopping experience.
  • Follow up post-sale via phone, email, and handwritten notes to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Stay informed about competitors and identify ways to build a competitive edge.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with personnel policies, procedures, and labor laws.
  • Plan ahead for seasonal changes, holidays, special events, and promotions, emphasizing organization and opportunity maximization.
  • Proactively resolve employee and customer issues, maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Ability to stand, reach, lift (up to 60#), bend, kneel, and perform physical tasks
  • Manual dexterity, sensory skills, and ability to follow instructions
  • Experience working in a kitchen environment with equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers, and knives, with exposure to heat, steam, fire, and noise
