Job summary

Harmons Grocery is seeking a Closer for the afternoon and evening shifts to maintain the salad bar quality and inventory. You will prepare items, mix dressings, and set up the salad and soup bars while delivering exceptional service to customers.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate signage, training new associates, and ensuring a clean, compliant kitchen environment. Weekend/evening availability is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Current Food Handler’s Permit required or preferred.
• Basic math skills for recipes and portioning.
• Ability to read and follow a recipe.
• Strong communication and customer-service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain salad bar; prep greens, toppings, dressings, dips.
• Set up and break down salad bar and soup bar.
• Ensure product quality and signage accuracy.
• Assist customers with service and questions.
• Train new salad bar associates and manage inventory levels.
• Receive and stock products as needed.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety standards.

$15.00 - $18.45 PER HOUR

CLOSER-AFTERNOON AND EVENING

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to maintain quality standards and product levels of all products on the salad bar. This person will be preparing items for the salad bar, mixing salad dressings, setting up and taking down the salad bar and soup bar, preparing to-go salads, sandwiches, and dips, training new salad bar associates, determining production and inventory levels, receiving and stocking product, and provide exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
• Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services the kitchen provides
• Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the salad bar
• Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items
• Ensures the kitchen is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance
• Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
• Prepares items for the salad bar; greens, walnuts, croutons, beets, bacon, etc.
• Mixes salad dressings
• Mixes to-go dips
• Packaging to-go soups, salads, and sandwiches
• Setup and/or takedown of salad bar and soup bar
• Assists as needed to ensure the success of the kitchen as a whole

MARGINIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

A high school diploma or GED preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Current Food Handler’s Permit
• Must enjoy working with and handling salad bar ingredients
• Should have a passion for preparing, cooking, and eating food
• Ability to read and follow a recipe
• Basic math skills used to double or half a recipe
• Have knowledge of appropriate knife skills and cutting techniques
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures
• Excellent organization and planning skills
• Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills to effectively and efficiently communicate with a diverse group of customers and associates
• Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized skills and techniques
