Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic procedures, assist physicians in procedures, and ensure patient safety.

The role requires knowledge of radiographic techniques, radiation safety principles, and patient handling. Certification and state licensure are required; weekend shifts and on-call duties may apply as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Certificate Program in Radiography or Associate in Science Degree.
• One to three years experience preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of radiographic procedures, equipment operation, radiation safety, positioning techniques, patient transfers, good communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, ethical and professional conduct, and age-related care considerations.

Responsibilities

• Preparation, identification, positioning, protection and radiographic technique; demonstrate competence in imaging procedures.
• Use RIS/HIS computer systems to document patient and procedure information for quality care.
• Assist physicians in fluoroscopic/interventional procedures; prepare contrast and ensure rooms are ready.
• Use proper techniques to minimize radiation exposure; modify care for pediatric and geriatric patients.

Job description

SUMMARY: Provides health care services, applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1.Preparation, identification, positioning, protection and radiographic technique iDemonstrates competence in the preparation, identification, positioning, protection and radiographic technique of all imaging procedures.
• 2. Computer System Uses computer system (RIS/HIS) to document accurate and timely patient/procedure information to ensure efficient quality patient care.
• 3. Preparation/Set-Up iAssists physicians in fluoroscopicnterventional procedures and prepares contrast as needed. Ensures that imaging rooms are properly set up and functional before physician begins procedure
• 4. Technique iEmployee uses proper techniques that minimize radiation exposure to self, patients the general public and other health care personnel. Modifies care according to patient’s age.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum Education Requirements:Graduate of Certificate Program in Radiography or Associate in Science Degree
• Minimum Work Experience:One to three years experience preferred, but not required
• Other skills and abilities:Knowledge of radiographic procedures, equipment operation, radiation safety, positioning techniques, patient transfers, good communication skills, ability to handle multiple tasks/projects, ethical and professional conduct, good understanding of age-related developmental issues of pediatrics and geriatrics. Flexibility to work overtime as needed as well as on-call duty, weekend rotations. Interest in participating in orientation/clinical education of student radiographers in accordance with clinical education center guidelines for radiologic technology program(s).
• Equipment/Software/Certification:Certification by ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in radiography, or equivalent. Renewed annually.
• Licensure by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Radiography. Renewed biannually
