General Position Summary:

The SAGE Center Coordinator is responsible for leading the coordination of all visitor experiences at the SAGE Center, including organizing and conducting school tours, and ensuring engaging and informative visits for all guests. Maintain alignment with Travel Oregon standards, oversee the quality of daily operations, and support intern growth to deliver exceptional service to the public.

Job Description
Primary Functions:
  • Greeting and assisting visitors, providing information about exhibits, programs, and events.
  • Ensure a positive and engaging experience for all visitors.
  • Handle inquiries and resolve visitor issues or concerns efficiently.
  • Schedule and confirm group travel reservations and tour requirements.
  • Develop marketing strategies to increase museum visibility and attract visitors.
  • Utilize social media, newsletters, and other platforms to promote exhibits, events, and programs.
  • Coordinate logistics such as scheduling, staffing, equipment, and supplies.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and businesses to promote and host events.
  • Supervise & train museum staff and volunteers.
  • Assign tasks, set schedules, and provide guidance to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain the appearance and functionality of exhibits, ensuring they are clean, organized, and properly labeled.
  • Oversee the SAGE Center Store.
Secondary Functions
  • Attending travel industry tradeshows, conferences, and networking events to promote the SAGE Center.
  • Participate in Welcome Center email communications and meetings on a regular basis.
  • Assist with sales forecasting, inventory calculation, and POS system operation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibility:
  • This position provides oversight of museum staff and volunteers.
Specific Job Skills:
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage staff and volunteers effectively.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability in both written and verbal communication.
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Knowledge of STEAM, STEM, and other programs included in the SAGE Center.
  • Team player with a willingness to assist others.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a passion for promoting arts and culture.
  • Assist the SAGE Center Manager as needed and during absences.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Experience in museum studies, history, art, education, or a related work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Social Media, Canva and other programs to support effective communications.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of current vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, including bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for events and special programs.

  • Previous experience working in a museum, cultural institution, or similar setting.
