Job summary

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in safety training or related field.
  • Ability to understand OSHA and safety regulations and apply them on site.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and training skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with leadership and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the EHS program for the location.
  • Facilitate incident investigations and root cause correction.
  • Collect and submit safety metrics data.
  • Conduct internal safety audits and identify unsafe conditions.
  • Deliver EHS training with emphasis on PIT.
  • Monitor corrective actions and safety initiatives with leadership.
  • Analyze trends to identify focus areas for leadership.
  • Lead safety committee meetings and drive two-way safety communication.
  • Coordinate safety surveillance with outside resources.
  • Work on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.

Job SummaryWork under the general guidance of the Corporate Safety Practitioner, reports directly to Operational Manager. The Safety Champion acts as mentor, educator, liaison and partner in pursuing excellence and value in the plants and/or office using the concepts of Continuous Improvement problem solving. The Safety Champion must understand and communicate the issues and relative data that impact the quality of Safety, as well as the improvement tools necessary to support a culture change for behavioral based safety. Plays a key role in the implementation of the environmental management system.Job DescriptionKey Accountabilities:Coordinates the implementation of the environmental, health & safety program for the locationFacilitates accidents/incidents investigations, guides the team effort of root cause correction development; prepares and submits required incident reportingCollects and submits safety metrics dataConduct internal audits to identify unsafe & non-compliance conditions and unsafe behaviorsUsing provided training material, coordinates or conducts all environmental, health and safety training to all employees with emphasis on PIT (Powered industrial Truck).Identifies opportunities to implement Best Safety practices; monitors their implementationResponsible for monitoring the status of all corrective actions and safety initiatives; provides feedback to the Leadership teamConducts trend analysis using historical inspections/observations and provides focus areas for the Leadership teamFacilitates safety committee meetings, two-way communication, and other communication mediums regarding safety performance, incidents, and other related dataCoordinates environmental, health and safety surveillance performed by outside resourcesThis is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.Meets TKMNA Employee Attributes / CompetenciesAdditional duties as required.The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirement for the performance of this job.
