Job summary

BC Wood Products in Richmond, VA, seeks a Safety Supervisor to lead our Health and Safety department, ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a safe workplace. You will coordinate safety programs, conduct training, and oversee incident investigations with HR and management.

This full-time, on-site role requires daily supervision, maintenance of training records, PPE ordering, and clear safety communication across production lines, forklift operators, drivers, and general staff.

Qualifications

• Experience leading health and safety programs and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Ability to develop and deliver safety training for multiple employee groups.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the health and safety department.
• Ensure employees follow health and safety regulations and supervise operations.
• Support HR and other assigned administrative duties.
• Conduct safety walk-through daily to ensure removal of workplace hazards.
• Support Production Team in meeting goals in a safe manner.
• Maintain safety documentation with regards to government compliance and company policy.
• Review annually all safety-related programs to ensure compliance.
• Prepare all safety meeting agendas and conduct safety-related training for Forklift Operators, Drivers, Production Associates, General Safety, and the Safety Committee.
• Monitor removal of hazards from a workplace.
• Provide safety training on policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Maintain training board postings throughout the facility.
• Advise administrative team on safety issues and compliance for projects and operations.
• Inspect and verify compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain records for all safety-related training and documentation.
• Analyze incident reports and institute changes for a safer environment.
• Manage ordering of safety supplies including PPE, equipment, tools.

Weekly Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. ' 4 p.m. (overtime required as necessary)

RESPONSIBILITY

Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the health and safety department. Ensure that employees follow health and safety regulations and supervise operations to promote the safety and well-being of our employees. To include supporting HR and other assigned administrative duties.

DUTIES

Essential Functions

• Conduct safety walk-through daily to ensure the removal of workplace hazards
• Support Production Team in meeting their goals in a safe manner
• Maintain safety documentation with regards to government compliance and company policy
• Review annually all safety-related programs to ensure compliance
• Prepare all safety meeting agendas and conduct all safety-related training or other meetings for to Forklift Operators, Drivers, Production Associates, General Safety, and the Safety Committee
• Monitor the removal of biological, physical, or chemical hazards from a workplace
• Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date training board postings throughout the facility
• Advise the company's administrative team on safety issues and compliance for specific projects and operations

• Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations
• Maintain accurate and current records for all safety-related training and other safety-related documentation in accordance with guidelines
• Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies and institute changes that lead to a safer environment
• Manage the ordering of safety supplies, including: PPE, equipment, tools, etc.

Other

• Assist management as needed with inventory and trailer count sheets
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and processing along with terminations
• Follow written and verbal instructions
• Other tasks and projects assigned

Physical Demands
