Job summary

Wohlsen Construction Company seeks a Director of Safety to lead the strategic direction of its Safety and Health Program, partnering with the VP of Risk Management to advance a culture where safety is a core business value across planning, decision-making, and project execution.

You will build safety strategy, governance, and measurable leadership development, direct the Safety Department, drive incidents reduction, regulatory compliance, and external engagement with clients and industry groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and professional certification are required or preferred as listed.
• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating organizational safety strategies and culture.
• Executive-level communication and coaching skills are essential for leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Safety Department with clear expectations, accountability, development plans, and succession strategies.
• Establish and maintain company-wide safety policies, standards, management systems, and best practices.
• Represent Wohlsen Construction with clients, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations.
• Drive measurable improvement in safety performance, risk reduction, and operational execution across regions.
• Coordinate with Risk Management and Human Resources on workers' compensation and regulatory matters.
