Job summary

RK Industries in Aurora, CO is seeking a Safety Specialist-Field to join our on-site safety team. You will work with construction leaders to spot risks, drive corrective actions, and strengthen compliance ensuring people stay safe and productive.

You will lead safety orientations, develop shop-specific programs, investigate incidents, and manage regulatory records. A college degree and 1–3 years field safety experience are expected, with opportunities to obtain relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• College/University graduate with 1-3 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
• Strong verbal presentation and facilitation skills.
• Understanding of Worker's Compensation and Return to Work process.
• Willingness to obtain safety certifications and designations (e.g., OSHA-30, ASP/OHST preferred).

Responsibilities

• Champion safety compliance across the worksite by ensuring teams follow applicable rules, regulations, procedures, and best practices.
• Inspect facility, identify hazards, analyze trends, and partner with field leadership to implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain shop-specific safety programs, manuals, standards, procedures, and training matrices.
• Lead safety orientations and training, including new hire presentations, Lock Out Tag Out, industrial hygiene, and machine guarding.
• Investigate incidents, manage claims and clinic visits, maintain regulatory records, and support recovery plans.
• Support prevention and compliance efforts through safe work practices, PPE, OSHA VPP-aligned controls, contractor/vendor vetting, testing, and safety data analysis.

What You'll Lead

What You'll Bring

• Strong verbal presentation and facilitation skills.
• Understanding of Worker's Compensation and Return to Work process.
• Currently hold or willingness to obtain additional education, safety certifications, and designations required. Designations include but not limited to:
• BCSP - ASP, OHST preferred
• NSC Advanced Safety Certificate
• OSHA 30 Hour
• Train the trainer designations related to Safety and Health
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other computer software.
