The initial project assignment for this position will be in Clarksville, TN. Applicants must be comfortable commuting to Clarksville on a daily basis.

Role Summary

The Safety Specialist 2 will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and increasingly complex construction projects. This position will be responsible for conducting safety inspections, identifying and documenting hazardous conditions, writing reports, and performing trend analysis. All activities will support the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

Safety Specialist Family - Core

  • Coordinates and implements the field safety program for routine construction projects.
  • Conducts regular walk-through inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Performs safety audits, identifies hazards, recommends abatement measures, and documents findings using safety management systems.
  • Conducts project-specific new hire orientations and oversees drug and alcohol policy compliance.
  • Monitors the safety programs of prime contractors and subcontractors.
  • Participates in project meetings to discuss safety matters.
  • Supports field leadership in safety program activities and chairs safety committees.
  • Assists in investigating accidents, determining root causes, and recommending process improvements.
  • Coordinates injury management and returns to work processes.
  • Monitors safety incentive programs.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

Safety Specialist 2

  • Handles more complex safety issues and provides advanced solutions.
  • Utilizes extensive knowledge of equipment, laws, and work processes for safety recommendations.
  • Engages actively in meetings and provides guidance on safety topics.
  • Performs trend analysis to identify safety issues and recommends mitigations.
  • Provides safety training and supports insurance audits.
  • Oversees larger or multiple complex projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and safety software.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to enforce them.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in safety or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent relevant experience considered.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years construction safety experience required.
