The initial project assignment for this position will be in Clarksville, TN. Applicants must be comfortable commuting to Clarksville on a daily basis.

Role Summary

The Safety Specialist 2 will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and increasingly complex construction projects. This position will be responsible for conducting safety inspections, identifying and documenting abatement of hazardous conditions, writing reports, and performing trend analysis. All activities will support the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

SAFETY SPECIALIST FAMILY - CORE

  • Coordinates and implements the field safety program for routine construction projects.
  • Conducts regular walk-through inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Performs safety audits, identifies hazards, documents findings, and recommends abatement measures, utilizing internal safety management systems.
  • Conducts project-specific new hire orientations and oversees drug and alcohol policy compliance.
  • Monitors the implementation of safety programs by prime contractors and subcontractors.
  • Attends project meetings to discuss safety matters and supports the safety program implementation.
  • Assists in investigating project-related accidents, determining root causes, and recommending process changes.
  • Coordinates with injured employees and clinics to ensure timely treatment and return to work, and compiles injury reports.
  • Monitors site safety incentive programs.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

SAFETY SPECIALIST 2

  • Possesses advanced safety knowledge to identify complex safety issues and provide solutions.
  • Utilizes extensive knowledge of equipment, laws, and work processes for safety recommendations.
  • Contributes actively in meetings and communicates effectively.
  • Uses safety management systems for trend analysis and provides mitigation solutions.
  • Provides guidance and training on safety topics for team members.
  • Supports safety leadership during insurance audits.
  • Oversees more complex projects, including large or multiple projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform tasks accurately and timely.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and safety software.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and enforcement.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a safety and health-related field preferred.
  • Equivalent relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of construction safety experience required.
