Safety Specialist

Location: Prince George, VA 23875

Duration: 4 Months+ (Potential Extension or Conversion)

Daily Schedule: Donut night shift: 7pm-5:30am

Training: 2 weeks 2pm-12:30am

Overtime Estimate: 10 hours/week

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
• Calm demeanor in stressful situations

Required Skills

• Minimum 1 year in an Environmental & Health & Safety (EHS) related field or a bachelor's degree in a related field
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional setting
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding security and personnel issues
• Flexibility to work shifts including days, nights, and weekends

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a related field
• Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer service skills
• Experience leading and managing teams
• Ability to analyze accident data, processes, and machinery for hazards
• Experience in safety response, worker's compensation, and OSHA regulations
• Passion for safety and experience in healthcare or industrial settings

Services to be Performed

• Identify compliance issues, risks, and improvement opportunities through audits
• Facilitate investigation processes
• Maintain documentation to ensure regulatory compliance
• Enter data into internal databases promptly
• Conduct observations and audits
• Train and assist team members and management
• Perform specific training as directed
• Additional responsibilities may include fire prevention and hazardous waste management
• Participate in process improvement activities and follow through on actions
