Job summary

Aston Carter seeks a Safety Specialist in Vernon, CA to join a manufacturing environment and strengthen our safety culture through guidance, training, and incident response. This full-time, onsite role requires CSP or safety-related degree, OSHA 10/30 certifications, and bilingual English/Spanish.

You will manage safety programs, audits, and committee participation to protect employees. Responsibilities include conducting investigations, coordinating training, and ensuring regulatory compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety & Health, or CSP certification.
  • At least 2 years of job-related experience in safety, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and local safety and health laws, including OSHA, NFPA, and Workers Compensation regulations.
  • Current OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and facilitate training for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner collaboratively with key stakeholders and influence without formal authority.
  • Strong decision-making skills and sound judgment in routine and high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to conduct thorough investigations.

  • Manage safety incentive programs to reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Serve as Safety Officer during emergencies and provide coordinated response leadership.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding disciplinary actions related to safety violations.
  • Promote wellness and recognition programs supporting employee well-being.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gain buy-in for safety programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.

Job Description

This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, leads safety training and initiatives, and serves as a key resource for incident response and continuous improvement in workplace safety and wellness.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local safety and health laws and regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, and Workers Compensation requirements.
  • Review, update, and clearly communicate safety procedures, policies, and guidelines to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate, develop, and facilitate engaging safety training for a wide range of audiences to promote strong safety awareness.
  • Execute the tactical strategy of the companys Safety Program, aligning day-to-day activities with broader safety objectives.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data from job hazard analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct thorough incident and accident investigations, documenting findings and reporting safety trends to management.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder and active participant in Department Safety Committees, providing insight and recommendations.
  • Manage safety incentive programs designed to reinforce safe behaviors and recognize positive performance.
  • Serve as the Safety Officer during emergency situations, providing calm, coordinated, and effective response leadership.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding disciplinary actions related to safety violations to support a culture of accountability.

  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the business to gain buy-in and support for safety programs and initiatives.

Essential Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety & Health, or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.

  • Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and local safety and health laws, including OSHA, NFPA, and Workers Compensation regulations.
  • Experience with safety and health regulations, regulatory agency interaction processes, and incident response.
  • Current OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, with the ability to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently.

Work Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing and office environment and is fully onsite. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with flexibility required to support nights and weekends as needed. The role involves regular presence on the production floor, where employees may encounter typical manufacturing conditions such as machinery, noise, and varying temperatures. The Safety Specialist uses standard office technologies, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint, as well as safety-related systems and tools to manage documentation, training, and incident reporting. Appropriate workplace attire and personal protective equipment are required in production areas in accordance with safety policies.

This is a Permanent position based out of Vernon, CA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
