Job summary

As a Safety Specialist in Los Angeles, CA, you will help ensure safe, reliable journeys for thousands daily by securing the Automated People Mover system. You’ll lead safety program development, oversee compliance, and drive a culture of operational excellence across engineering, operations, and design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in safety, engineering, transportation or related field.
  • Experience with rail transit, Automated People Mover systems, or regulated environments is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for risk assessments and safety analyses.
  • Ability to develop and enforce SOPs in compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Proven communication, leadership, and collaboration skills to empower teams and build trust.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and oversight of Public Transit Agency Safety Plan requirements for APM operations.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce Roadway Worker Protection programs, including training and compliance monitoring.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures aligned with regulatory and operational safety needs.
  • Provide field safety oversight for operations, maintenance, and contractor activities to ensure safe execution.
  • Support and lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

As a Safety Specialist in Los Angeles, CA, you will be at the heart of ensuring safe, reliable journeys for thousands every day. Your expertise will help secure the Automated People Mover system, connecting communities and supporting sustainable mobility across the city.

  • Lead the development and oversight of Public Transit Agency Safety Plan requirements for APM operations.

What you bring

Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000
