The role supports compliance programs and serves as liaison with regulatory agencies as needed. The position requires a BS degree and 5+ years in a manufacturing HSE role, with knowledge of OSHA and USEPA regulations and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Health, Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in a health and safety role at a manufacturing location.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and USEPA regulatory matters.
  • MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Health, Safety and Environmental direction, leadership, and training to improve HSE performance.
  • Support compliance programs and liaise with regulatory agencies when necessary.
  • Develop, implement, audit, and maintain HSE policies and procedures in compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Train employees in site safety practices, fire prevention, and proper handling of chemicals, toxins, and equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations including recordkeeping.
  • Lead weekly safety meetings and coordinate EHS training communications.
  • Perform inspections for potential EHS risks and drive corrective measures to closure.
  • Contribute to RCA investigations and drive action items to closure.
  • Relocation provided.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • The Safety Specialist will be providing Health, Safety and Environmental direction, leadership, and training to ensure continuous improvement in Health & Safety performance.
  • Contribute to and support compliance programs, procedures, and policies and acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies when necessary.
  • Support all health, safety, and environmental programs, including developing, writing, implementing, auditing, and maintaining policies and procedures in compliance with company, local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Provide training to employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemical, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations including recordkeeping.
  • Lead role in weekly safety meetings, and coordinator for EHS training including communications.
  • Performs inspections for potential EHS risks, determines corrective or preventive measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Major contributor during Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigation of incidents, injuries, and near misses and drives action items to closure.
  • Relocation provided. $85K-$115K.
Experience
  • The Safety Specialist will have a BS degree in Health, Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or relevant technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in a health and safety role at a manufacturing location, preferably in the chemical or food industry
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and USEPA regulatory matters covering industrial chemical process operations.
  • Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
