Job description

The Safety Specialist oversees and administers all onsite safety, health, and environmental requirements during installation and sustaining activities. This role focuses on proactive problem solving, auditing, inspections, incident investigation, and coordination of contract safety personnel, while providing service-oriented support to employees, contractors, and customers. The Safety Specialist also assists in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs and training to promote a culture of safety excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, evaluate, and implement health and safety policies, programs, and procedures as assigned.
• Increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization through communication, training, and engagement.
• Investigate serious or critical personal injuries and near-miss incidents involving company personnel, contractors, and visitors.
• Assist operations teams with root cause analysis and identification of solutions for incident causal factors, and track corrective actions to completion.
• Report on incident findings and follow up to ensure implementation and effectiveness of corrective measures.
• Investigate complaints of hazardous working conditions, assist with solutions, and report findings to appropriate leadership staff.
• Respond to employee safety concerns, provide guidance on solutions, and track resolutions to completion.
• Track and provide safety metrics and data as requested to support reporting and continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain all safety and health records in accordance with regulatory requirements and prepare reports as requested.
• Provide direction and oversight for contract safety personnel working onsite.
• Conduct worksite safety inspections to recognize safe work practices, identify hazards, and collaborate with employees and management on implementing controls.
• Attend meetings related to the safety of company personnel and contribute safety expertise and recommendations.
• Assist in the development of site-specific safety plans and manage the upkeep and revisions of those documents.
• Ensure site safety plans are reviewed during project kick-off meetings and updated as needed.
• Review pre-task plans to verify that hazards are identified and appropriate controls are in place.
• Coordinate customer-specific safety training for onsite personnel.
• Conduct weekly safety audits and submit detailed reports to appropriate stakeholders.
• Arrange for health and safety testing and evaluations of the workplace by external agencies and consultants when necessary.
• Act as a liaison with customer representatives and key contracted personnel on safety-related matters.
• Develop and deliver assigned safety training modules and sessions.
• Coordinate training for personnel in areas such as first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, workplace inspections, and other safety procedures.
• Liaise with customer personnel regarding emergency procedures, communications, and safety education programs.
• Analyze work processes, perform risk assessments, and implement controls to mitigate identified risks.
• Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies as required, ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations.
• Support the organization’s commitment to a culture of safe work practices and safety excellence.
• 2+ years of EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) experience in a professional environment such as manufacturing or construction.
• 1+ year of experience contributing to the creation of safety plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Professional experience participating in at least two safety audits.
• Must hold at least an OSHA 10 certification.
• General knowledge of accident investigation techniques and root cause analysis methodologies.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulatory requirements and their application in the workplace.
• General knowledge of safety and occupational health methods, practices, principles, and procedures.
• Demonstrated experience working with contractors and managing construction safety requirements.
• Ability to creatively deliver and document safety training in a professional manner.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and work initiatives simultaneously.
• Strong written communication skills, including process documentation and report preparation.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team member across organizational lines to achieve safety and operational goals.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative within established guidelines.
• Experience with safety audits, safety procedures, compliance activities, and risk assessments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 4+ years of EHS experience in a professional environment (manufacturing or construction) is highly valued.
• Experience developing or helping to create safety plans and SOPs beyond the minimum requirements.
• Completion of at least two professional safety audits is preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification is strongly preferred.
• OSHA 500 certification is a plus.
• BCSP certifications such as CHST, OHST, ASP, or GSP are preferred.
• Experience in construction safety and industrial safety environments.
• Familiarity with safety audits, safety training, and construction safety practices.
• Ability to analyze work processes and conduct detailed risk assessments.
• Commitment to supporting and promoting a culture of safety excellence.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a service-oriented approach to working with employees, contractors, and customers.

This role is based onsite in installation and semiconductor cleanroom environments. The position typically follows a Monday through Friday day shift, with occasional Saturdays depending on workload. Initial training during the first week is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After training, work may start as early as 5:30 a.m., with standard 10‑hour shifts Monday through Friday. Another potential shift option is from 3:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., depending on operational needs and candidate availability. The work environment involves active presence in industrial and cleanroom settings, conducting inspections, audits, and training. Casual work attire is appropriate, with required personal protective equipment provided, including long pants, long‑sleeve shirts, hard hats, safety glasses, and other necessary PPE. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boise, ID.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
