The Safety Specialist is responsible for administering all onsite safety, health, and environmental requirements during installation and sustaining activities. This role focuses on problem solving, auditing, inspections, oversight of contract safety personnel, and incident investigation, while maintaining a strong service-oriented approach toward employees, contractors, and customers. The Safety Specialist also supports the development, implementation, and delivery of safety programs and training to promote a culture of safety excellence.

The Safety Specialist is responsible for administering all onsite safety, health, and environmental requirements during installation and sustaining activities. This role focuses on problem solving, auditing, inspections, oversight of contract safety personnel, and incident investigation, while maintaining a strong service-oriented approach toward employees, contractors, and customers. The Safety Specialist also supports the development, implementation, and delivery of safety programs and training to promote a culture of safety excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, evaluate, and implement health and safety policies, programs, and procedures as assigned.
• Increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization.
• Investigate serious and critical personal injury incidents and near misses involving company personnel, contractors, and visitors.
• Assist operations teams with root cause analysis and identify solutions for incident causal factors, track corrective actions to completion, and report on findings and follow-up.
• Investigate complaints of hazardous working conditions, assist with solutions, and report findings to appropriate senior staff.
• Respond to employee safety concerns, provide guidance on solutions, and track issues through to completion.
• Track and provide safety-related metrics as requested by leadership.
• Maintain safety and health records in accordance with regulatory requirements and prepare reports as needed.
• Provide direction and oversight for contract safety personnel working onsite.
• Conduct worksite safety inspections to recognize safe work practices, identify hazards, and collaborate with employees and management to implement effective controls.
• Attend meetings related to the safety of company personnel and provide input on safety matters.
• Assist in the development of site safety plans and manage the upkeep, review, and revision of those documents.
• Ensure site safety plans are reviewed during project kickoff meetings.
• Review pre-task plans to verify that hazards are identified and controls are in place.
• Coordinate customer-specific safety training for onsite personnel.
• Conduct weekly safety audits and submit detailed reports to appropriate personnel.
• Arrange for health and safety testing and evaluations of the workplace by external agencies and consultants when necessary.
• Act as a liaison with customer personnel and key contracted personnel regarding safety matters.
• Develop and deliver assigned safety training programs.
• Coordinate training for personnel in areas such as first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, workplace inspections, and other topics related to safety procedures.
• Liaise with the customer regarding emergency procedures, communications, and safety education programs.
• Analyze work processes, perform risk assessments, and implement controls to mitigate identified risks.
• Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies as required.
• Support the organization’s commitment to a culture of safe work practices and safety excellence.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) experience in a professional environment, preferably in manufacturing or construction.
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the creation of safety plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Professional experience participating in at least two safety audits.
• Must hold at least an OSHA 10 certification.
• General knowledge of accident investigation techniques and root cause analysis methodologies.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulatory requirements and compliance obligations.
• General knowledge of safety and occupational health methods, practices, principles, and procedures.
• Demonstrated experience working with contractors and construction safety in industrial or construction environments.
• Ability to creatively deliver and document safety training in a professional manner.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and work initiatives simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to present safety information clearly.
• Strong writing skills for process documentation and report preparation.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team member across organizational lines to achieve safety and operational goals.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative within established guidelines.
• Commitment to promoting a culture of safety excellence and safe work practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 4+ years of EHS experience in a professional manufacturing or construction environment is highly valued.
• Experience developing comprehensive safety plans and SOPs from concept through implementation.
• Experience participating in multiple safety audits and contributing to audit readiness and follow-up.
• OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 certifications are preferred.
• BCSP certifications such as CHST, OHST, ASP, or GSP are preferred.
• Experience with construction safety and industrial safety procedures.
• Background in safety auditing, safety training, and risk assessment.
• Familiarity with safety compliance programs and regulatory reporting.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Interest in long-term career growth within a safety-focused environment.
• Ability to adapt training content and delivery to different audiences and learning styles.

Work Environment

This position is based onsite in installation and semiconductor clean room environments. The role primarily follows a Monday through Friday day shift schedule with occasional Saturdays depending on workload. Initial training during the first week is conducted Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After training, shifts typically start as early as 5:30 a.m., with 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday. There is also potential for an alternative shift from approximately 3:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m, depending on operational needs. The work environment involves active presence on industrial and construction-related sites within clean room facilities, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols. Casual work attire is acceptable, complemented by company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE), including long pants, long-sleeve shirts, hard hats, safety glasses, and other required gear. Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
