Job summary

PTS Advance is seeking a Safety Coordinator / Field Safety Representative at a refinery site. This contract-to-hire role requires a strong field presence, good judgment, and collaboration with operations and maintenance personnel to promote safe work practices.

The ideal candidate has refinery experience, understands permitting for high-hazard activities, and is eager to learn client-specific processes. Training on site procedures will be provided.

Safety Coordinator / Field Safety Representative

Location: Refinery Site

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

This is a field-focused position requiring someone with a strong presence, sound judgment, and the confidence to work alongside operations and maintenance personnel in a refinery environment. The ideal candidate will have solid refinery experience and be comfortable managing permitting and field safety activities. While extensive safety certifications are not required, the candidate must possess a strong foundation in refinery safety practices and be eager to learn the client's processes.

Responsibilities

• Review, issue, and manage work permits for refinery activities.
• Perform field audits and safety inspections.
• Conduct permit reviews and sign-offs for high-hazard work, including:
• Confined Space Entry
• Critical Lifts
• Other high-risk maintenance and construction activities
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with site safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with operations, maintenance, and contractors to promote safe work practices.
• Participate in safety observations and provide field support as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a refinery or petrochemical facility is required.
• Strong field presence with the ability to communicate effectively with operations and contractor personnel.
• Working knowledge of refinery permitting processes and high-hazard work activities.
• Experience with confined space entry, critical lifts, and permit auditing is preferred.
• Safety certifications are a plus but are not required; the client is willing to provide training on site-specific processes.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
