Job summary

Avondale High School in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a dedicated School Safety Specialist (1.0 FTE) to monitor student activity and maintain a safe learning environment. You will supervise building areas, support staff, and implement safety protocols.

The position requires a High School Diploma (Associates degree preferred) and strong communication and interpersonal skills. CPI certification or enrollment is encouraged, with opportunities for after-school support and ongoing professional

Responsibilities

• Works cooperatively with administrators, student services personnel and teachers.
• Possess CPI certification or enroll to gain certification provided by Avondale School District.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
• Greet guests/visitors and assist with school business.
• Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is essential.
• Monitor the building to ensure students have passes when out of class.
• Monitor student behavior throughout the building.
• Maintain closed campus policy.
• Other duties as assigned by the principal.
• Opportunities may exist to serve during after school events.

IN THIS ROLE:

As a School Safety Specialist, you’ll monitor/supervise student activity in building including but not limited to athletic locker rooms, hallways, entry points, restrooms, cafeteria, media center, and parking lot. • 4. Greet guests/visitors in a positive manner; assist them with conducting school business
• 5. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is an essential function of the job
• 6. Monitor the building to be certain all students have a pass if out of the classroom during instructional time.
• 7. Monitor student behavior throughout the building
• 8. Maintain closed campus policy
• 8. Other duties as assigned by the principal.
