Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA seeks a safety-minded individual to help maintain a secure, welcoming environment for members and staff. You will monitor areas, deescalate incidents, and oversee surveillance to protect people and property.

Responsibilities include reporting suspicious activity, conducting thorough walkthroughs, and coordinating with leadership during emergencies. Prior experience is welcome but not required; training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong observational and communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm in high‑pressure situations.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and physical tasks.
• Willingness to learn the layout of buildings and property.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, welcoming environment for members and staff.
• Monitor assigned areas and report suspicious activity to leadership.
• Deescalate inappropriate or threatening situations.
• Monitor surveillance cameras throughout the facility.
• Perform building walkthroughs and ensure safety inside/outside the Branch.
• Notify law enforcement or fire departments in emergencies.
• Secure property after hours and update the activity log.
