The City of Rockville is seeking a permanent full-time Safety Specialist to oversee occupational safety and health management programs within the Safety and Risk Management Division of the Human Resources Department.

The role manages safety policies, conducts inspections, handles workers' compensation claims, and leads safety initiatives across City properties and jobsites. Strong project leadership and training delivery are essential for success.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Risk Management or Insurance.
• Two to five years of related professional experience in safety or risk management.
• Valid driver's license; ability to obtain Maryland driver’s license within 6 months.
• Ability to obtain First-Aid, CPR and AED trainer certification within 1 year.
• Preferred credentials: GSP, ASP, and/or CSP from BCSP.

Responsabilidades

• Create, implement, update, and enforce the City's safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct safety inspections and coordinate corrective actions.
• Handle workers' compensation claims reporting and data analysis.
• Investigate workplace incidents to identify root causes.
• Prepare briefings and present findings to senior management.
• Lead safety committee meetings and coordinate cross-departmental safety initiatives.
