Job summary

The City of Rockville is seeking a permanent full-time Safety Specialist, with a salary range of $78,019 to $128,731. Depending on experience, the position may be filled at the Safety Program Manager level with a salary range of $81,920 to $135,169.

This role administers the City’s safety and health management programs, workers' compensation, and return-to-work activities. It requires collaboration, audits, training, and comprehensive safety plan leadership.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of professional experience in occupational safety or risk management.
• Must have a valid driver's license or ability to obtain Maryland license within 6 months.
• Ability to obtain First-Aid, CPR and AED trainer certification within 1 year.
• Preferred: GSP, ASP, CSP certifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage the City’s occupational safety and health program and initiatives.
• Lead safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate workers' compensation claim activities and return-to-work programs.
• Prepare OSHA 300 logs and annual summaries; report data to regulators as required.
• Develop safety trainings and oversee safety newsletters and communications.
