Our client is a leading construction company specializing in complex, high-security facilities including correctional institutions, jails, and prisons. With over a century of experience delivering critical infrastructure, their commitment to safety, quality, and performance drives everything. Our client is seeking a Safety and Risk Manager to support project teams and ensure operational excellence across all job sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage company-wide safety and quality control programs.
• Create site-specific safety plans (SSSPs) for new projects and ensure compliance across all sites.
• Conduct routine safety and quality inspections at active project locations; identify areas for improvement and enforce corrective actions.
• Manage the company’s vehicle fleet policies, including telematics systems for compliance and safety monitoring.
• Assist superintendents and field leadership in procuring safety equipment and training field staff.
• Manage and track safety certifications and re-certifications for all field employees.
• Support the company’s captive insurance program, including claims reporting, investigation support, and risk assessments.
• Lead safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and emergency preparedness drills as needed.
• Assist in internal audits, incident investigations, and preparation of required documentation for regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in construction safety management, preferably on large-scale institutional or civil projects.
• OSHA 30 Certification (required); CHST, CSP, or other professional safety certifications (preferred).
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction site safety practices, and fleet safety compliance standards.
• Strong background in quality control practices in the construction industry.
• Experience with telematics or fleet safety management systems (preferred).
• Familiarity with captive insurance programs and construction risk management (preferred).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills — able to work effectively with project teams and field crews.
• High level of attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, or Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent field experience may be considered.
