Job summary

Shirley Parsons is seeking a Site Safety Representative to support a long-term residential construction project in Chicago, Illinois. This role provides on-site safety leadership, working closely with project teams and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety requirements and promote safe work practices throughout the project.

Start date ASAP; schedule approximately 50 hours per week on-site in Chicago. Per Diem is not available; local candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction safety management, occupational safety, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with safety programs and site inspections.

Responsibilities

• Verify safe work practices involving electrical systems.
• Lead safety training sessions and ensure compliance with site safety policies.

Shirley Parsons is currently working with a client seeking a Site Safety Representative to support a long-term residential construction project in Chicago, Illinois. This individual will provide on-site safety oversight, working closely with project teams and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety requirements and promote safe work practices throughout the project.

Location: Chicago, IL

Project: Residential Construction

Start Date: ASAP

Schedule: Approximately 50 hours per week

Per Diem: Not available; local candidates are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site safety leadership and conduct regular safety inspections and observations.
• Verify safe work practices involving high-voltage and energized electrical systems.
• Lead safety training sessions and ensure compliance with site safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure adherence to established safety plans.
• Support environmental management programs related to construction activities.
• Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous safety improvement initiatives.
• Prepare and maintain required safety documentation, reports, and project safety plans.
• Partner with project leadership, contractors, and other stakeholders to identify and address potential safety hazards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction safety management, occupational safety, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting electrical safety.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, NEC, EPA, and NFPA regulations and standards.
• Strong understanding of electrical hazards, energized work, and appropriate work controls.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively influence project teams and subcontractors.
• Familiarity with EHS management systems and ISO standards is preferred.
• Ability to work approximately 50 hours per week on-site in Chicago.
