POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated Safety Representative with preferably at least 3 months of experience in the safety field. The candidate will inspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS

• Have a complete working knowledge of general safety practices, policies, and procedures


• A basic knowledge of computers and recordkeeping


• Good communication skills, including written and oral communication


• Works well with others


• Basic knowledge of safety techniques and first aid

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention devices


• Observes workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment, i.e., hard hats, safety goggles, steel toe boots, etc. and make sure workers are in compliance with safety rules and procedures


• Inspects specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies


• Becomes a Shipyard Competent Person (SCP)


• Assists with the investigations of incidents to determine a cause and suggest prevention methods
