Qualifications

  • High school diploma; Steel Technologies experience preferred with strong safety record.
  • Certification in Internal Audits and 5-S is required.
  • Forklift training and OSHA General Industry and First Responder training are preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data entry for tracking records.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on the job safety training for new hires and job transfers.
  • Lead crane and forklift operator training and annual evaluations.
  • Issue training packets and maintain training records/files.
  • Ensure Safety Management System implementation at the facility.
  • Maintain the Job Safety Analysis program and coach on safe practices.
  • Assist in safety incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Schedule and document safety committee meetings.
  • Lead shift safety meetings and communicate safety alerts.
  • Document monthly safety training topics and manage Safety Rewards Program.
  • Represent plant in Quality Management System activities and audits.

Job description

  • Conduct on the job safety training for new hires and job transfers
  • Conduct crane and forklift operator training and annual evaluations
  • Issue training packets and maintain training record/files

2. Safety Management System

  • Ensure Safety Management System is implemented at the facility (forms, policies, procedures, revisions, etc.)
  • Maintain the Job Safety Analysis program
  • Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
  • Assist in all safety incident investigations, ensure completion of all reporting, and assist with the implementation of safety related corrective measures
  • Work with HR Coordinator/Plant Manager to schedule hearing tests and noise monitoring assessments as needed within the facility
  • Schedule, lead, and document all safety committee meetings
  • Assist as needed in leading shift safety meetings; post and communicate safety messages/alerts from corporate safety as needed
  • Schedule, conduct, and properly document monthly safety training topics with all teammates
  • Facilitate the Safety Rewards Program at the plant
5. Compliance
  • Monitor compliance with environmental health and safety program
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, observe general work practices, and enforce safety policies and procedures; when an unsafe work practice is observed, coach teammates on safe work procedures
  • Point person for all internal and external safety audits/inspections
Quality

1. Represents plant pertaining to Quality Management System

  • Manages, trains, and maintains all quality documentation for the facility
  • Represents facility in all Internal and Third Part Registrar Audits
  • Performs, when required, Internal Audits for other facilities within the company
  • Performs any corrective actions that may arise from the facility audit
  • Performs monthly management review for facility
  • Assists in APQP process
  • Creates, coordinates, and maintains all part inspection matrix files (part specific inspection forms) for Blanking customers
  • Assists manufacturing in any area requested to ensure efficient, effective and quality production
2. Assists Technical Service Group
  • Works with Tech Service Group from the manufacturing side of customer relations and complaints
  • Performs all corrective actions required by customers dealing with rejects and/or quality issues
  • Communicates all issues and assists in correction of them with manufacturing personnel
  • Compiles and performs all PPAP requirements by customers
  • Targets potential problems while in production and watches run at machines to prevent rejected material
3. Statistical Maintenance
  • Completes all gauge R&R’s. capability studies and any other statistical requirements by Quality Management System, customers, or any other source

On time delivery analysis, reviews and edits to compile true plant on time delivery percentages b. Finished goods assessments (dock audits)
  • Monitors customer rejects pertaining to plant responsible, investigates issues and responds appropriately (review corrective/preventive actions with employees)
  • Gathers all data measurements based upon claims and incoming material from customers, in order for material to be received in inventory
4. 5-S and Lean Involvement
  • Maintains and participates in 5-S projects that are performed in the plant
  • Acts as lean champion for the plant, involved with Lean Manufacturing companies/customers
5. Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A high school diploma and at least one year of Steel Technologies experience with an excellent safety record is preferred. Basic knowledge and understanding of the Safety environment functions and laws preferred. Strong Microsoft office skills such as, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are necessary to be proficient in this position.
  • Certification in Internal Audits and 5-S are required.
  • Forklift training, OSHA Hour General Industry and Certified First Responder with first aid, CPR and AED training is strongly preferred.
  • Formal education may be substituted with experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is a safety sensitive position. This work is performed in both an office setting with minimal to moderate noise due to computers, printers, and people as well as a manufacturing setting with moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment. The temperature of the facility will vary based on outside weather conditions. The use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance may be required as deemed necessary by management.
