Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Safety & QC Tech to oversee compliance, inspections, and safety across field operations. You will work with administration and management, liaising with regulators as needed, and help develop safety policies and training programs.

Responsibilities include OSHA/DOT rule application, on-site safety leadership, incident reporting, licensing compliance, and coordinating with the Yard Manager to maintain safe operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate Degree preferred.
• Two years experience in Safety of Related field.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations.
• Must have mechanical aptitude.
• Effective communication skills, organization, and planning skills.
• Able to communicate and work well with team members.
• Work independently and proactively with minimal supervision or instruction.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and able to multi-task.
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions, use proper judgment.
• Establish rapport, present information, and respond to questions.
• Deep understanding of OHSA guidelines and practical application.
• Lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Be Safety Professional on location.
• Assist, develop and maintain safety and health policies, procedures and manuals.
• Assist with Safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Apply relevant OSHA and DOT regulations under guidance.
• Implement and integrate risk mitigation into programs, processes, and operations.
• Prepare and roll out safety initiatives, educational and training programs, materials, and information under safety leadership.
• Educate and train employees on health and occupational safety.
• Coordinate with Yard Manager on-site health and safety.
• Oversee daily monitoring of operations and equipment testing to reduce risks.
• Assist in accident reporting and safety procedure improvements.
• Ensure ALL licensing and requirements are current and completed.
• Safety equipment inspections and maintenance (fire extinguishers, first aid, SDS, gas detection, etc.).
• Fire extinguisher maintenance including monthly/annual inspections and recharging.
• Promote available company services and products.
