Job summary

The Mariners’ Museum and Park is seeking a full-time Safety and Protective Services Associate to help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for visitors, staff, and collections. This role blends security, safety, and life-safety oversight with emergency response and visitor assistance.

Responsibilities include patrols, inspections, HazCom support, incident reporting, and collaboration with departments to reduce risk. On-call standby may be required; weekend and holiday shifts are typical.

Qualifications

• Strong observational, communication, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to identify, document, and report security and safety concerns.
• Ability to remain calm and follow established procedures during emergencies.
• Ability to complete inspections and written reports accurately.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols and identify hazards.
• Perform and document routine fire and life-safety inspections.
• Assist with HazCom program and chemical labeling.
• Report deficiencies and assist with corrective actions.
• Protect collections, facilities, visitors, and staff.
• Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access-control systems.
• Respond to emergencies and assist evacuations.
• Complete inspection records and incident reports.
• Participate in required training.
• Standby duties may be required.
