Job description

Job Overview: As an Electrical Corporate Safety Director for Schetter Electric, LLC, you will lead our Safety Department’s initiatives, set strategy, influence culture, partner with senior leaders, and advance practical safety solutions. You will work collaboratively on companywide issues, building cooperative and supportive relationships at all levels of the company and project teams while ensuring full compliance of safety regulations and requirements. You will be the leader our team looks to that is responsible for engagement in spearheading the company’s programs that ensure not only safety compliance and safe work environment, but that ensures Schetter Electric is always striving to make our company a safe place to work!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and oversee subcontract safety programs concurrently on multiple projects.
  • Conduct safety assessments/inspections of projects under construction to monitor and ensure compliance with safety/health requirements including contractual commitments, laws, regulations and the project’s site specific environmental, safety & health plans. A strong emphasis will be on promoting and improving the companies “Safety leading measures”
  • Development of Method of Procedure (MOP), Site specific safety plans, critical activity plans and work permits.
  • Conduct investigations into employee or sub-contractor injuries, motor vehicle accidents, spills, discharges, theft, vandalism, property damages and developing written reports to document, including root cause analysis.
  • Conduct safety & compliance training for supervisors & field employees.
  • Provide comprehensive written reports to document site visits, activities and incidents as needed.
  • Ensure subcontractor regulation and contract safety compliance.
  • Assist project managers and superintendents with safety-related preconstruction activities.
  • Develop site safety plans per regulations and owner contracts.
  • Assist superintendents/supervisors in developing site-specific emergency procedures and Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs).
  • Develop and/or facilitate site-specific training.
  • Coordinate and complete weekly site safety audits with project supervision.
  • Develop and/or facilitate quarterly field and office staff training.
  • Conducted senior-level accident investigations for serious accidents or serious incidents.
  • Review all accidents and incidents to ensure remediation of root causes.
  • Participate actively in community events organized by safety professionals, including regulatory agencies and citizen groups, striving to promote safety and accident prevention.
  • Proactively follow up and manager incident claims to help mitigation and risks.
  • Provide companywide safety guidance collaboratively.
  • Complete companywide safety initiatives collaboratively or independently as requested.
  • Build safety stewardship across the company through visible leadership, clear communication, and consistent employee engagement.
Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate is a strategic, credible, and collaborative, self-starting safety leader who can operate at both the executive and field level. You bring sound judgment, practical problem-solving, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to influence leaders and employees across a decentralized organization.
  • Five + years full-time construction safety management experience; or Trade experience with a board-certified safety credential from a nationally recognized organization (for example, CSP, CIH, ASP, CHST) and five years of full-time construction safety management experience; or Trade experience with a current OSHA 500 certification.
  • Must possess OSHA 30 construction certificate valid within 5 years.
  • Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations as applied to construction and general industry.
  • First Aid, CPR & AED certifications, must be willing to lead in an emergency event.
  • Experienced with Return-to-Work Programs and coordination with individuals under Workers compensation care.
  • Competent Person Designation: Electrical safety-NFPA 70E, Excavation, Fall protection and Confined space.
  • OSHA 500, 501 and 510.
  • MEWP and fall protection trainer.
  • Experience with onsite OSHA investigations and inspections
  • Advanced computer literacy with Microsoft applications; Word, Excel, Power Point and other industry applications as needed.
  • Familiar with online safety programs such as ISNetworld & Avetta.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $125,000 - $155,000 per year negotiable depending on experience

Work Location: In office / In Field
Physical Requirements:
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms at waist level and below the waist; and work in limited space.
  • Regularly required to talk to communicate detailed and accurate information.
  • Regularly required to hear with or without correction to receive and interpret detailed information and instructions.
  • Regularly required to sit for long and short periods at a time at a desk or driving to remote works sites.
  • Regularly required to walk for long and short distances to accomplish job tasks.
  • Regularly required to reach ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) including reaching in front of body, at shoulder level.
  • Ability to see with or without correction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Regularly work in environments of extremely cold and hot temperatures.
  • Regularly work at heights and elevated positions as needed to visually inspect work areas.
