Job summary

Concrete Strategies is seeking a Safety Performance & Risk Manager based at our St. Louis shop to lead safety programs across nationwide operations.

You will engage with field teams, perform hazard identification, conduct inspections, and drive corrective actions to keep workers safe and returning to work smoothly. The role requires strong OSHA knowledge, experience with audits and incident reviews, and the ability to coordinate medical resources and modified duties across sites.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of professional safety experience in construction, general industry, industrial operations, or related environment.
• Construction safety experience strongly preferred; general industry or occupational safety with construction exposure considered.
• Experience with workers’ compensation, injury management, modified duty, return to work, or occupational medicine.
• Familiarity with respiratory protection, fit testing, and root cause analysis.
• OSHA 30, CHST, ASP, CSP, or CRIS credentials.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Lead local safety support with a visible presence in the St. Louis shop and support pump truck and hydro‑vac operations through project visits, inspections, hazard identification, pre‑task planning, and corrective‑action follow‑up.
• Coordinate modified duty and return to work with employees, leaders, Safety, Insurance/Claims, and medical providers to track restrictions and support recovery.
• Strengthen medical readiness by coordinating occupational medicine providers and emergency resources for projects nationwide, including remote locations.
• Support occupational health programs by coordinating respirator fit testing, medical evaluations, and documenting job‑demand profiles.
• Keep incident documentation complete and accurate by reviewing packets and maintaining confidential records with Insurance/Claims.
• Support safety improvement and onboarding by assisting with root cause analysis, onboarding new safety professionals, and providing backup for drug/alcohol testing.
• Drive follow‑through by tracking open items, communicating deadlines, and ensuring cross‑department responsibilities are completed.

About the Opportunity

Concrete Strategies is seeking a Safety Performance & Risk Manager to combine hands-on safety leadership with companywide employee injury support, occupational health coordination, and risk management.

Based at our St. Louis shop, you’ll support shop, pump truck, and hydro-vac operations while coordinating safety functions across our nationwide operations. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced safety professional who enjoys working directly with field teams and taking ownership of programs that help employees stay safe and return to work successfully.

You’ll report to the Director of Safety Performance & Continuous Improvement.

What You’ll Do

• Lead local safety support. Maintain a visible presence in our St. Louis shop and support pump truck and hydro-vac operations through project visits, inspections, hazard identification, pre-task planning, and corrective-action follow-up.
• Coordinate modified duty and return to work. Partner with employees, operational leaders, Safety, Insurance/Claims, and medical providers to coordinate appropriate work assignments, track restrictions, and support employees throughout their recovery.
• Strengthen medical readiness. Identify and coordinate occupational medicine providers and emergency medical resources for projects nationwide, including remote locations.
• Support occupational health programs. Coordinate respirator fit testing, track required medical evaluations and documentation and help develop accurate physical job-demand profiles.
• Keep incident documentation complete and accurate. Review injury and incident packets, coordinate missing information with project safety teams, and maintain confidential records in partnership with Insurance/Claims.
• Support safety improvement and onboarding. Assist with formal root cause analysis, help onboard new safety professionals, and provide backup coordination for drug and alcohol testing.
• Drive follow-through. Track open items, communicate deadlines and compliance gaps, and work across departments to ensure responsibilities are completed.

What You’ll Bring

• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational safety requirements.
• Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, field observations, and corrective-action follow-up.
• Ability to work effectively with craft employees, supervisors, equipment operators, and operational leadership.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive responsibilities independently.
• Clear communication and the ability to build relationships and drive accountability across departments.
• Experience reviewing safety and incident documentation and handling confidential information appropriately.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn safety, claims, scheduling, and tracking systems.
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the position’s travel requirements.

Preferred Experience & Credentials

• Five or more years of professional safety experience in construction, general industry, industrial operations, or a related environment.

Location & Travel

This position is based at the Concrete Strategies St. Louis shop and includes office, shop, and project-site work. A regular local presence is required, along with local travel and up to 20% travel outside the St. Louis metropolitan area, including periodic nationwide travel.

Some flexibility in work hours is expected to support medical appointments, project needs, and other time-sensitive responsibilities. This position is not intended to serve as a 24/7 on-call resource.
