Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Department is seeking a Safety Partner to help maintain a safe environment for patients at risk of various behaviors while supporting nursing staff. The role requires a valid BLS, de-escalation and safety training within specified timelines and may include shift differentials based on qualifications and location.

The position is full-time (36 hours/week) with a weekend day shift (Friday–Monday, 7 AM–7 PM) at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
• De-escalation and physical intervention training required within 30 days of hire
• Prior healthcare experience preferred or enrollment in health sciences program

Responsabilités

• Assist with maintaining a safe hospital environment for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors.
• Support patient safety and comfort during the hospital stay and ED visits.
• Provide clinical support and monitoring in the Emergency Department as part of the care team

Overview

Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Safety Partner.

Position Status : Full-Time (36 hours/week), weekend day shift (Friday-Monday, 7AM-7PM)

Position Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Department

As a Safety Partner with Sentara, you will assist with the provision of a safe hospital environment conducive to individualized patient care for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors enabling patients to maintain or enhance function during the hospital stay.

Department Overview

The Norfolk General Hospital's Emergency Department is a 53-bed unit. Our Trauma One Facility is equipped to handle a variety of medical emergencies, and approximately 10% are Trauma related.

Requirements

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Certification/License

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required within 90 days of hire)

De-escalation and physical intervention training (Required within 30 days of hire)

Experience

Prior Healthcare Experience or Enrollment in a Health Sciences Program (Preferred) - Applicants without prior experience or current health sciences program status must successfully complete a Sentara Safety Partner Training Course in addition to core competencies during orientation.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $17.82 - $25.65 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
