Job summary

SALT Outreach, Inc. is seeking a Safety and Support Specialist to maintain a safe environment, support outreach efforts to individuals experiencing homelessness, and provide transportation when required.

The role demands flexibility, compassion, situational awareness, and the ability to engage with vulnerable populations while upholding the organization’s mission of service and dignity; you will monitor premises, assist participants with services, and transport materials as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications or higher education is a plus
• Proven experience in security, driving, or outreach roles preferred
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Class D Security license
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to handle stressful situations effectively
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and tasks

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure the security of premises and personnel
• Conduct regular patrols and inspections of facilities and grounds
• Conduct security checks and monitor security cameras
• Respond to crises and emergencies promptly
• Enforce company policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment
• Report and document incidents and safety concerns
• Collaborate with local law enforcement when necessary
• Assist program participants with accessing services and resources, including showers, laundry, and mail services
• Perform outreach duties at different locations within the tri-county area as needed
• Engage with community members to provide support, resources, and information
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners and stakeholders
• Safely operate company vehicles to transport program participants, materials, or equipment
• Transport company trailers to various locations for outreach operations as needed
• Conduct vehicle inspections and maintenance checks as needed
• Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance activities
• Assist with loading and unloading of materials or equipment as needed
