Job summary

OSM Thome Limited, Brunei, is seeking a Safety Officer to join a Service Operation Vessel (SOV). You will oversee safety across crew, contractors and vessel operations in a hands-on offshore environment.

Key duties include supervising risk assessments, toolbox talks, drills, and incident investigations, while ensuring compliance with SMS, ISM, and international regulations. Strong communication and ability to coach multinational crews are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as Safety Officer or senior rank offshore vessels required.
• Strong knowledge of ISM, HSE standards and permit-to-work systems.
• Good communication and coaching abilities for multinational crews.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and promote safe working practices across all vessel areas.
• Carry out safety inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
• Lead incident and near-miss reporting and assist investigations.
• Support safety drills and emergency response training.
• Advise Master and officers on safety improvements and regulatory compliance.

Join OSM Thome as Safety Officer onboard a Service Operation Vessel (SOV) in Brunei. You will play a key role in keeping crew, contractors, and vessel operations safe, while supporting daily offshore work in a hands‑on environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and promote safe working practices across all areas of the vessel
• Carry out safety inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks
• Lead incident and near‑miss reporting, and assist in investigations
• Support drills and training for emergency response and safety procedures
• Ensure compliance with company SMS, flag state, and international regulations
• Advise the Master and officers on safety matters and improvements

Requirements

• Previous experience as Safety Officer or senior rank with strong safety focus, preferably on offshore vessels
• Valid STCW certificates and all documents required for rank
• Good knowledge of ISM, HSE standards, and permit-to-work systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to coach multinational crews
• Medically fit for offshore work and ready to join in Brunei
