Savannah College of Art and Design is seeking Safety Officers to support the SCAD Department of University Safety across Savannah and Atlanta campuses. Roles include patrol officer and fixed post officer with 12-hour shifts (day 6am–6pm, night 6pm–6am).
Responsibilities cover deterring misconduct, reporting, inspections, traffic direction, and emergency response. The ideal candidate will communicate effectively, operate a vehicle safely, and stay calm during emergencies.
Position Summary
Providing a safe learning environment for our students, staff and faculty is the core function of the SCAD Department of University Safety. Safety officers will work at various locations and roles throughout the Savannah and Atlanta campuses.
Safety Officer positions include patrol officer and fixed post officer. In both of these roles, responsibilities include deterring undesirable behaviors, writing and inputting reports, conducting visual inspections of facilities, directing traffic, responding to radio calls as needed, calling in safety concerns, completing visual inspections and observing occurrences of areas being patrolled.
The candidate maintains a level of physical fitness that enables them to stand or walk indoors or outdoors during a shift, respond quickly to service calls, and climb or descend multiple flights of stairs.
The ideal candidate can communicate effectively, operate a motor vehicle safely, and stay calm during emergencies. The candidate understands and can follow specific instructions or procedures and has knowledge of public security codes, policies, and regulations. They are flexible, customer-service oriented, and skilled in providing protection services to individuals. Additionally, the candidate can carry out building security and lock procedures.
Please Note, this position is a full-time role with 12 hour shifts.
Day Shift is 6am-6pm, Night Shift is 6pm-6am

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
