SCAD's University Safety department seeks full-time Safety Officers to patrol and monitor the Savannah and Atlanta campuses, with 12-hour shifts.
Responsibilities include deterring misconduct, completing reports, conducting facility inspections, directing traffic, and responding to radio calls while enforcing safety codes and procedures. Candidates must operate a vehicle, stay calm in emergencies, and communicate clearly.
Providing a safe learning environment for our students, staff and faculty is the core function of the SCAD Department of University Safety. Safety officers will work at various locations and roles throughout the Savannah and Atlanta campuses.
Safety Officer positions include patrol officer and fixed post officer. In both of these roles, responsibilities include deterring undesirable behaviors, writing and inputting reports, conducting visual inspections of facilities, directing traffic, responding to radio calls as needed, calling in safety concerns, completing visual inspections and observing occurrences of areas being patrolled.
The candidate maintains a level of physical fitness that enables them to stand or walk indoors or outdoors during a shift, respond quickly to service calls, and climb or descend multiple flights of stairs.
The ideal candidate can communicate effectively, operate a motor vehicle safely, and stay calm during emergencies. The candidate understands and can follow specific instructions or procedures and has knowledge of public security codes, policies, and regulations. They are flexible, customer-service oriented, and skilled in providing protection services to individuals. Additionally, the candidate can carry out building security and lock procedures.
Please Note, this position is a full-time role with 12 hour shifts.
Day Shift is 6am-6pm, Night Shift is 6pm-6am

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
