Job summary

Westover Job Corps Center in Chicopee, MA is seeking a Security Officer to help create a safe, welcoming campus environment for students. You will perform patrols, monitor activities, enforce policies, and assist with incident response in a fast-paced setting.

Qualified candidates bring reliability, strong communication, and teamwork. Candidates should be comfortable working with young adults, including students with special needs, and be proficient with basic computer applications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six (6) months of experience in security, law enforcement, military, corrections, public safety, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of security procedures, emergency response, and crowd management.
• Experience in educational or residential settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols across campus.
• Monitor campus activity and respond to safety concerns and emergencies.
• Enforce campus policies and security procedures fairly.
• Perform security inspections of buildings, grounds, and facilities.
• Assist staff with conflict resolution and respond to disturbances.
• Document incidents and conduct preliminary investigations.
• Control parking and traffic flow on campus.
• Enforce student pass and visitor access procedures.
• Provide escort services for students, staff, and visitors.
• Build positive relationships with students and promote safety.
• Respond calmly during emergencies and critical incidents.
• Perform other duties to support campus operations.

What You'll Do

Preferred Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
• Ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement within three (3) months of hire.
• Water Safety Certification required or the ability to obtain certification as required.

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk for extended periods. Patrol indoor and outdoor areas in varying weather conditions. Bend, kneel, stoop, and reach as needed. Lift and carry light objects. Operate computers, radios, and other communication equipment. Respond quickly to emergencies and physically intervene when necessary to maintain a safe environment.
