Job summary

Hartford Job Corps Center, a subsidiary of ParadigmWorks Group, is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard buildings and property on campus. You will check doors, windows, lights and equipment, maintain incident logs, and manage access control for students, staff and visitors.

The role requires walking an 8-acre campus, clear writing, and professional interaction with students and staff. Fire safety, intrusion alarms, and incident reporting are core responsibilities in a full-time post at the

Qualifications

• Must have active CT Guard Card, HS/GED, valid driver's license w/good driving record.
• Must have ability to efficiently walk the 8-acre campus and check multiple buildings; write clearly; and manage, document and report incidents.
• Must interact professionally with students and staff with professionalism & ensure safety of center.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the physical security of buildings and property; check doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks and emergency equipment.
• Maintain log of findings and corrective action taken.
• Perform parking and traffic control duties; check IDs of personnel, students and visitors seeking entrance to or exit from grounds and permit or deny entrance or exit according to established policies and procedures.
• Perform routine vehicle equipment inspections, including lights, brakes, mirrors, steering and other required operating equipment.
• Recommend mechanical repairs as needed.
• Assist in transporting ill or injured students and staff as required.
• Respond to fire alarms, take necessary steps to report fires, assist in suppressing fires and reset fire alarm equipment.
• Set up and check operation of intrusion alarm systems in buildings as required.
• Assist staff and law enforcement personnel in controlling disturbances.
• Conduct preliminary investigation of crimes.
• Provide proactive conflict resolution with students and refer students to counseling and other actions as necessary.
• Conduct initial investigation of incidents and provide timely documentation.
