Job summary

Discord is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Safety ML team. You will build and deploy ML models that help keep Discord users safe, including real-time and batch systems for content understanding, risk evaluation, and account integrity.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, policy, legal, and Trust & Safety to design and deliver ML solutions. The requirements include 4+ years in ML engineering, strong Python skills and experience with PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow,

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in ML engineering or applied ML roles.
Strong coding skills in Python and fluency in ML frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
Experience building performant ML systems at scale and driving production deployments.
Ability to think from first principles with creativity and pragmatic solutions.
Growth mindset with openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
Excellent communication and collaboration across engineering, data science, legal, policy, and product teams.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, ML, Statistics, or related field.

Responsibilities

Analyze data to identify risk patterns and inform model design.
Build, iterate on, and evaluate models that detect risk and anomalous behavior.
Collaborate with product, engineering, legal, and Trust and Safety to deliver ML solutions.
Work with Trust & Safety to curate labeled data at scale and improve labeling.
Deploy models into production and ensure scalability and reliability.
Document modeling approaches and apply ML best practices.
