Job summary

Waabi is seeking a curious and analytical Safety Methodologies Intern to support the development and implementation of the frameworks that underpin our driverless readiness decisions. This is a hands-on role in the autonomous trucking space, using our simulator and real-world data to quantitatively validate safety.

You will develop Python scripts, optimize data pipelines, explore crash datasets, and collaborate with the Safety team to integrate models into evaluation workflows.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in CS/Robotics/Math/Statistics.
• Experience identifying and handling missing values, anomalies, and outliers in large-scale datasets.
• Solid foundation in regression, classification, and hypothesis testing; surface patterns in data.
• AI-native with rapid experimentation, prototyping, and rigorous validation of results.
• Strong Python scripting with Pandas and NumPy.
• Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and accurately.
• Collaborative team player who thrives across functions.
• Genuinely excited about self-driving technology and solving hard problems.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python scripts and tools to calculate quantitative metrics and visualize data for collision assessment.
• Support optimization of data pipelines and automated assessment workflows used for safety validation.
• Explore large crash databases and apply multivariate modeling techniques to predict collision-related metrics.
• Conduct A/B testing on collision models within the broader safety framework.
• Collaborate with the safety team to integrate the models into safety evaluation pipelines.
