Job summary

Grunley Construction seeks an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to lead safety programs on our commercial, institutional, and government projects. The role emphasizes implementation of Safety Management Systems, risk reduction, audits, and training at field sites.

The SSHO will report to the Director of Corporate Safety and collaborate with Superintendents, Project Managers, and Field Ops to uphold safety policies and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have an OSHA 30-hour and First Aid & CPR card.
• Prefer OSHA 510 or OSHA 500 certification.
• Prefer CPT in fall protection, confined space, scaffolding, excavation and silica.
• Attendance certifications for USACE EM385-1-1, QCM, Maryland Sediment and Erosion Control, Asbestos Supervisor and/or Lead Supervisor.
• Preferred credentials include STSC, CHST, OHST, ASP, CSP or similar.
• Must have knowledge of construction and occupational health and safety details.
• Security clearance: Secret or Top-Secret clearance highly preferred or ability to obtain Top-Secret.

Responsibilities

• Implement Safety Management Systems, Risk Management and Loss Reductions, Safety Audits, and Safety Training.
• Work with Director of Corporate Safety and other leaders to ensure safety policies are applied at field sites.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, USACE EM385-1-1, and other regulatory standards across projects.

The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for implementing the company's efforts in the following areas: Safety Management Systems, Risk Management and Loss Reductions, Safety Audits, and Safety Training.

Reports to: Director of Corporate Safety and works closely with the Assistant Director of Corporate Safety, the Director of Field Operations, Superintendents, Project Executives and Project Managers to assure that the company's safety policies and procedures are implemented.

• Required Education
  • HS Diploma
• Preferred Education
  • A degree in Safety and Health or related field is preferred.
• Required Experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in applying safety standards, regulations and procedures as it relates to manuals, audits, reports, checklists, etc. for a general contractor, subcontractor, or related engineering or environmental health and safety consulting firm.
  • Previous experience working within the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, USACE EM385-1-1 Safety & Health Standards, and other federal, state, local or special customer regulations that govern building construction and safety requirements.
• Required Qualifications
  • Must have a current OSHA 30-hour and First Aid & CPR card.
  • Highly preferred to have a current certification for one or more of the following - OSHA 510, OSHA 500.
  • Highly preferred to have Competent Person Training (CPT) in fall protection, confined space, scaffolding, excavation and Silica.
  • Current attendance certifications for one or more of the following - USACE EM385-1-1, USACE Quality Control Management (QCM), Maryland Sediment and Erosion Control, Asbestos Supervisor and/or Lead Supervisor.
• Preferred Qualifications
  • Havingoneormoreofthefollowingsafetyandhealthrelatedcredentialsispreferred -STSC,CHST, OHST, ASP, GSP, CSP or similar.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
