Job summary

Grunley Construction seeks a Safety Manager to lead site and corporate safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, USACE EM385-1-1, and client requirements across a range of projects in the DMV. You will develop training, perform audits, manage risk reductions, and collaborate with project teams and senior safety leadership to maintain certifications and incident-free work.

This role requires five years of relevant experience and key certifications in OSHA 500/30, CPT, and CQM-C to drive

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience applying safety standards, regulations and procedures for construction settings.
• OSHA regulations, USACE EM385-1-1, and other federal/state/local safety requirements.
• Safety-Training credentials such as OSHA 500 or OSHA 30.
• CPT in fall protection, confined space, scaffolding and excavation.

Responsibilities

• Lead Safety Management Systems, Risk Management and Loss Reductions, Safety Audits, and Safety Training across projects.
• Collaborate with Director of Corporate Safety, Field Operations leadership, Superintendents, Project Executives and Project Managers to implement safety policies.
• Develop and deliver safety training, perform audits, and drive continuous safety improvements.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, certifications, and regulatory standards.

The Safety Manager (SM) is responsible for implementing the company's efforts in the following areas: Safety Management Systems, Risk Management and Loss Reductions, Safety Audits, and Safety Training.

Reports to: Director of Corporate Safety and works closely with the Assistant Director of Corporate Safety, the Director of Field Operations, Superintendents, Project Executives and Project Managers to assure that the company's safety policies and procedures are implemented.

Required Education

• HS Diploma

Preferred Education

• A degree in Safety and Health or related field is preferred.

Required Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in applying safety standards, regulations and procedures as it relates to manuals, audits, reports, checklists, etc. for a general contractor, subcontractor, or related engineering or environmental health and safety consulting firm.
• Previous experience working within the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, USACE EM385-1-1 Safety & Health Standards, and other federal, state, local or special customer regulations that govern building construction and safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Received Safety-Training credentials for OSHA 500 or OSHA 30
• Competent Person Training (CPT) in fall protection, confined space, scaffolding and excavation.
• Current First Aid & CPR cards
• Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C)

• Having an active GSA badge and security clearances is highly desired.
