Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking a Safety Manager to develop and implement environmental, fleet safety and occupational health programs. You will ensure compliance, plan security and disaster readiness, and manage related claims while working within a collaborative team to protect associates and customers. The role emphasizes training, policy improvement, and effective communication across departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Environmental Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field.
  • 5–7 years related experience in safety or environmental management.
  • 6 months to 1 year supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety programs within budgetary guidelines.
  • Conduct safety training and reduce OSHA recordables and lost days.
  • Foster customer, vendor and coworker relations while ensuring safety compliance.
  • Improve safety policies, monitor programs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage claims related to property, casualty, workers' compensation and liability.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and maintain a safe working environment.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for developing, implementing and/or administering environmental, fleet safety and occupational health and safety programs to ensure applicable legal compliance and create and maintain a safe and secure working environment. Also responsible for facility security and disaster preparedness planning and effective management of claims (e.g., property and casualty – workers' compensation, auto liability and physical damage, and products/general liability). Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
  • Deliver safety programs within budgetary guidelines. Conduct safety training, as necessary.
  • Decrease “lost days from work” and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) recordable incidents.
  • Demonstrate awareness of customer needs and perform job duties to effectively meet those needs.
  • Develop interpersonal relationships which encourage openness, candor and trust, both internal and external.
  • Provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers/vendors and coworkers.
  • Improve safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor safety programs and implement changes necessary to ensure the health and safety of our associates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
